The Leinster is a heartfelt Irish pub in Miami, created by Paul, originally from Ireland, in partnership with the Graspa Group. It's the kind of place where strangers become friends and friends become family.

Rooted in nearly two decades of friendship, travel, and shared passion, The Leinster is more than a bar — it's a community hub. Inspired by the warmth of Irish culture and the charm of old-school Miami, it's a place where everyone is treated like a regular.

I hope this finds you well and that you enjoyed some of the celebrations of Irish heritage that took place during the month of March.  You can see some of the Consulate’s highlights on our Instagram feed! Thank you to all those that helped to make Irish-heritage month an inclusive, fun and festive period. 

I am writing to you today to highlight two upcoming literary evenings that I think you will love.  I am working with our great friends at Books and Books on both and I have promised that the friends of the Consulate will turn out in support! J 

One of my favorite authors of all time, Patrick Radden Keefe, will speak at the Congregational Church in Coral Gables (3010 De Soto Blvd) at 7 pm on Friday, 10th April to discuss his new book “London Falling”.  

Patrick is a masterful storyteller who takes real life events and turns them into epic page-turners (you may have read the brilliant, award-winning “Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland”).  (Also worth a listen: his fascinating podcast series on spies, secrets, soviets and rock music).  I was so sad to miss seeing Patrick at his sell out appearance at the Festival of Ideas and Writing in Borris, Co. Carlow, Ireland so I am thrilled that I can catch him in Miami, thanks to Books & Books, and I hope you will join us.

The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurl or hurley (in Irish a camán, pronounced /ˈkæmən/ or /kəˈmɔːn/ in English) to hit a small ball called a sliotar (pronounced /ˈʃlɪtər/ in English) between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. The sliotar can be caught in the hand and carried for not more than four steps, struck in the air or struck on the ground with the hurley. It can be kicked, or slapped with an open hand (the hand pass), for short-range passing. A player who wants to carry the ball for more than four steps has to bounce or balance the sliotar on the end of the stick (solo), and the ball can be handled only twice while in the player's possession. Provided that a player has at least one foot on the ground, he may make a shoulder-to-shoulder charge on an opponent who is in possession of the ball or is playing the ball

The Irish Consulate is partnering with Project Dandelion to screen “Mrs Robinson”, a film celebrating leadership, resilience, and the fight for climate justice through the extraordinary life of Mary Robinson. 

As Ireland’s first female President, a pioneering UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Co-Founder of Project Dandelion, Mary Robinson has spent her life leading with courage and conviction.
CG Sarah Kavanagh will introduce the documentary while Deputy Consul General Sharon Lennon will participate in a panel discussion following the movie. 

The event is free of charge but registration is essential.

Founded in 1927 as the Southern Florida Boat Racing Association, the focus was primarily on sailing and racing. Several years later, the Association became the Miami Yacht Club and moved to our current location on Watson Island between the City of Miami and Miami Beach.
