It’s that time of year again – we are preparing to mark Bloomsday with a celebration of literature.
This year, we will recognize James Joyce as a great European who spoke numerous languages and lived in a number of European countries. I am delighted that a number of my EU colleagues will join us to recognize their favorite works of Irish literature and a favorite from their home countries.
Without Sylvia Beach, owner of Parisian bookstore, Shakespeare & Co., there would be no Ulysses. So this Bloomsday, we will also recognize the richness and joy that bookstores and libraries bring to our lives.
As always, there will be some readings, beautiful music, a costume competition (dress code: Edwardian), and high tea.
This event is free, as ever, but registration is essential as space is limited. Register here no later than Friday 12 June.
